Janata Parivar Merger Could be Announced Next Week
The long-pending process for merging Janata Parivar parties may start soon. The merger is bound to happen and it will happen sooner than later,” JD(U) president Sharad Yadav said on Sunday.The parties which are getting together are the Samajwadi Party, which has five Lok Sabha MPs, the Lalu Prasad-led RJD with four MPs, while the JD(U), JD(S) and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) have two MPs each. In all they would have 15 MPs in the Lok Sabha to form a pressure group in the House. In the Rajya Sabha, the group would have a strength of 30 MPs.
